Graduate Students
- Coastal & Ocean
Engineering Program is a comprehensive curriculum of graduate studies and research leading to the degrees of
Master of Science (MS), Master of Ocean Engineering (MOcE), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
- The Cooperative Institute for
Marine Resources Studies (CIMRS) fosters collaborative research between NOAA and OSU in fisheries,
ecosystem studies, aquaculture, oceanography, and marine-resource technology. CIMRS facilitates student
interships, assistantships, and workshops.
- The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. The
offers graduate work leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees with
majors in fisheries. The Department participates in the Master of Agriculture programs in Aquaculture and the Master of Arts in
Interdisciplinary Studies in Natural Resource Management.
-
The Department of Geosciences
offers graduate studies leading to M.S., M.A., and Ph.D. Degrees in both Geography and Geology.
The Geography Program includes marine geographic information systems (GIS), acoustic remote sensing, and
ocean data management. The Geology Program includes the areas of Petrology, Geomorphology, Hydrology and
Paleoclimatology.
- IGERT (Integrative Graduate Education and Research
Traineeship) Program focuses on life below the Earths surface, "The Subsurface Biosphere." This program is designed for
graduate students who are interested in combining the disciplines of Engineering, Oceanography, Microbiology, Chemistry, Geology,
and Agriculture.
- Oceanic & Atmospheric
Sciences The College of Oceanic & Atmospheric Sciences (COAS) offers degrees in interdisciplinary Marine Resource Management
as well as Biological Oceanography, Chemical Oceanography, Marine Geology and Geophysics, Physical Oceanography, and Atmospheric
Sciences.
- Oregon Sea Grant offers graduate fellowships and internships as funding is available.
- Partnership for Interdisciplinary
Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO) offers students a unique opportunity to obtain cross-disciplinary training in the
marine sciences and ecology. The four universities participating in PISCO provide educational programs at the undergraduate,
graduate, and postdoctoral levels under the guidance of leading scientists from diverse fields.
- Zoology. The Department of Zoology
has strong programs of graduate study in behavioral ecology, marine biology and ecology, evolutionary biology, physiology,
behavioral endocrinology, population biology, genetics, neurobiology, chemical ecology, cell and developmental biology and
comparative immunology.
