I have a Master's degree (1988) in Geography from the University of Auckland, New Zealand and a Bachelor's degree (1986) in Economics and Geography from the University of Auckland.
Current Research:
My academic research address both fisheries policy management and the wider subject of sustainable management of marine resources. I have specific interdisciplinary research interests in: Rights-based fishery management systems; cost recovery and resource royalty systems; capacity building for sustainable management of the environment; co-management of coastal marine resources; and decision support systems to assist environmental decision-making. As an Oregon Sea Grant Extension specialist I work with coastal communities, coastal resource users and marine resource managers on fisheries management issues and on issues related to climate change and the coast.
